Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has vowed to tackle violence head-on, urging citizens to support the government’s efforts in fostering tolerance and peaceful co-existence. The governor made this statement after chairing a State Security Council Meeting on February 27, 2026, aimed at reviewing recent tragic incidents that claimed innocent lives in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
Mutfwang condemned the attacks, describing them as “unacceptable” and assured families of the victims of the government’s unwavering solidarity. He commended security personnel for their swift interventions, which prevented further escalation of tensions, and urged them to intensify surveillance, particularly in rural communities.
The governor also warned against inflammatory statements and unauthorized road blockages, stating that such actions would attract the full weight of the law. He emphasized that community leaders would be held accountable for incidents occurring within their jurisdictions.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bassey Ewah, reassured residents that security agencies are working collaboratively to apprehend those responsible for the recent disturbances, adding that Plateau remains safe.
