Stakeholders in Bauchi State’s education sector have called for improved implementation of the education budget to strengthen infrastructure and enhance learning outcomes across the state.

Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Director of Young Leaders Network, Seun Justin Onarinde, said the review was aimed at examining the link between education spending and actual outcomes in schools, particularly for marginalized children.
According to him, the engagement provides an opportunity for stakeholders to assess progress in the education sector and ensure that budget allocations translate into improved access to quality and inclusive education.
In his presentation, the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Ministry of Education, Rabi’u Ibrahim Kubiya, disclosed that personnel costs recorded about 98 percent performance, while recurrent expenditure also stood at about 98 percent.
However, he noted that capital expenditure recorded lower performance, although the overall budget implementation for the sector was above 70 percent.
Kubiya explained that the review would help the ministry and stakeholders evaluate the 2025 budget performance and prepare for improved implementation in 2026.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Nasir Ahmed Ala, commended YLN for organising the review meeting and pledged continued legislative support to improve the education sector.
Participants at the meeting, which included government officials, development partners, civil society groups, community leaders and students, emphasized the need for increased investment in education infrastructure and stronger monitoring to ensure resources reach the communities that need them most.
The review meeting was organised under the Strengthening Advocacy for Girls’ Education (SAGE) Project implemented by YLN with support from the Malala Fund.
