US President Donald Trump’s Senior Adviser on Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, stated that Boko Haram and ISIS have killed more Muslims than Christians in Nigeria.
He emphasized that terrorism has no color, religion, or tribe, and people of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds are suffering.
made this statement in a video shared by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), while calling for stronger collaboration to address insecurity in Nigeria.
He also commended the Nigerian government’s efforts to tackle insecurity, noting that “the Nigerian government and President Tinubu’s administration have taken additional measures and put more resources in those areas, and we have seen some improvements.”
Boulos reaffirmed Nigeria’s long-standing unity and tolerance, stating that the country has lived together in harmony for centuries despite being split roughly 50-50 between Christians and Muslims.
Boulos’ comments come amid concerns by US lawmakers, such as Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Riley Moore, who have accused the Nigerian government of ignoring or facilitating the persecution of Christians.
However, Boulos dismissed these claims as inaccurate and misleading, emphasizing that violence in Nigeria is not driven by religion but by broader insecurity issues affecting all Nigerians.
