The Citizen Joint Tactical Formation, CJTF-TF Nigeria, has appointed Deputy Commander Ojeniyi Johnson Adebayo as the Acting Commander of its Lagos State Command.
The appointment, announced by the National High Command of the organisation on September 23, 2026, is aimed at coordinating personnel and members transitioning from previous voluntary security structures into what the organisation describes as its unified security framework in Lagos State.
In a statement signed by the Commander General and National Coordinator of the CJTF-TF, Tanimu Shehu, the organisation said the appointment forms part of its efforts to strengthen its operations and commitment to internal security, protection of lives and property, and counter-threat activities across the country.
The organisation said it operates from its National Headquarters in Jos, Plateau State, with strategic operations in Abuja.
The CJTF-TF also stated that its 450-member tactical deployment in the Wase/Bashar axis of Plateau State had received what it described as official recognition and tactical collaboration directives from the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Department of Army Operations, Abuja, under reference number AHQ DAOPS/G3/240/232, with operational liaison linked to Headquarters 3 Division in Jos.
According to the organisation, Adebayo has more than two decades of grassroots security, paramilitary and leadership experience.
He reportedly began his service career in 1999 with the Boy Scouts of Nigeria in Lagos and later served with Man O’ War Nigeria and the War Against Indiscipline Brigade under the National Orientation Agency.

The CJTF-TF said he has undergone more than 40 leadership training and camping exercises and previously served as Senior Admin of the Department of Transportation and Traffic at the Nigerian Forest Security Service National Headquarters in Abuja.
Adebayo’s listed qualifications include a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration from Lagos State Polytechnic, postgraduate diplomas in Customer Relationship Management and Leadership and Management, as well as qualifications in Criminology and Penology and Security Control and Management.
The organisation further stated that Adebayo underwent a re-verification process before his transition into the CJTF-TF.
It said he swore a High Court Affidavit, Constitutional Undertaking and Transition Declaration at the Lagos State High Court of Justice on September 23, 2026.
The organisation said the documents include declarations concerning his criminal record, ongoing investigations or prosecutions, and his separation from previous affiliations.
As part of the directives issued to the new Acting Commander, the CJTF-TF said he is required to submit the organisation’s official recognition and operational documents to relevant statutory security agencies in Lagos State before commencing operational duties.
These agencies include the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and relevant Nigerian Army formations.
The organisation also directed that formal notifications be extended to the Lagos State Government and traditional rulers across the state.
The Acting Commander is further expected to supervise the re-verification and profiling of personnel under the Lagos Command. The CJTF-TF said membership and registration documents are to be endorsed by the relevant traditional rulers before being submitted to the National Headquarters for final review.
The National High Command warned personnel against unauthorised roadblocks, extortion, harassment and abuse of authority.
It said any personnel found violating Nigerian law or the organisation’s standard operating procedures would face disciplinary action, possible revocation of appointment and handover to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
