The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Barrister John Kyohroh Christopher, has laid foundation stones for the construction of two primary healthcare clinics in Garba Daho and Furaka communities.
The projects, which were flagged off on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, are part of efforts by the council to improve access to quality healthcare services in the area.
Speaking during the ceremonies, the chairman said the clinics are designed to meet standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO), adding that the facilities will be equipped with boreholes, staff quarters, and solar power to ensure uninterrupted, 24-hour medical services.
He commended residents of the benefiting communities for donating land for the projects and assured that his administration would ensure their timely completion.
Christopher called on stakeholders to support the initiative, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in strengthening primary healthcare delivery.
At Garba Daho, the councillor representing the ward, Abubakar Bako Ismail, described the project as a major boost to healthcare in the area, noting that it would also serve neighbouring communities. He appreciated the council leadership for facilitating the development.
Also speaking, the Makaman Jos, Alhaji Mansir Salihu Nakande, praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of accessible primary healthcare services, while acknowledging community contributions to the project.
In Furaka, the Leader of the Legislative Arm and councillor representing Lamingo ward lauded the chairman for the intervention, describing it as impactful. The District Head of Furaka, Adagwom Isaac Isha, expressed gratitude and pledged the community’s full support.
The Deputy Chairman of the council, Sani Muhammad Garkuwa, stressed that access to healthcare is critical for productivity and overall community development. He urged residents to cooperate with contractors to ensure smooth execution.
The contractor handling the projects assured that the facilities would meet modern standards, with male and female wards, consulting rooms, laboratories, pharmacies, and other essential units.
When completed, the clinics are expected to enhance healthcare delivery, create employment opportunities, and improve the well-being of residents in the benefiting communities.
