The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Bassey Ewah, has announced a lineup of activities to mark the National Police Day Celebration 2026, while also highlighting major operational achievements recorded by the Command.
Addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Jos on March 28, 2026, the Commissioner stated that this year’s celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” will commence on March 30 and run through April 7, 2026.
He emphasized that effective policing requires strong collaboration between law enforcement and the public, urging residents, community leaders, and stakeholders to actively participate in the events.
Activities scheduled for the celebration include environmental sanitation, medical outreach, a walkathon, road safety sensitization, and support initiatives for families of fallen officers. The grand finale is set to take place in Abuja.

Beyond the celebration, CP Ewah disclosed several breakthroughs in crime-fighting efforts across the state. These include the arrest of suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, human trafficking, and sexual offences.
Among the notable cases, police arrested a suspected kidnap kingpin in Bassa Local Government Area, as well as multiple suspects found in possession of AK-47 rifles and other weapons. Several kidnapping and robbery suspects were also apprehended in coordinated operations across different parts of the state.
The Command further reported arrests related to serious offences involving minors, including rape and other forms of abuse, with investigations ongoing and suspects to be charged to court upon completion.
The Commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, calling on the public to support security efforts by providing timely and useful information.
He reiterated the importance of vigilance with the message: “See Something, Say Something.”
