The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Saturday held a strategic meeting with Muslim leaders in the state to strengthen collaboration toward promoting peaceful coexistence, infrastructural development, and political harmony.

The engagement, which took place at Crispan Suites and Event Centre, Jos, provided a veritable platform for constructive dialogue on issues of mutual interest, with strong emphasis on unity, mutual respect, and harmonious relations among all communities in Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, stressing the importance of working closely with religious and traditional leaders, as well as other critical stakeholders, to foster understanding, sustainable peace, and collective progress across the state.

He informed the Muslim leaders of his recent political decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) after wide consultations, explaining that the move was aimed at deepening political harmony in the state ahead of the 2027 elections. The Governor noted that the decision had given birth to a new political movement driven by the aspirations of Plateau people within the APC. He appealed for the unwavering support of Muslim leaders and the entire citizenry to enable the state attract greater dividends of democracy from the centre.

In his remarks, the Emir of Wase and Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Plateau State, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo Haruna, commended Governor Mutfwang for initiating the engagement, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening unity and religious harmony. He applauded the Governor’s efforts in promoting peace and delivering developmental projects across the state.

The Emir called for mutual respect, justice, and fairness among all citizens, and reaffirmed the commitment of Muslim leaders to support the Governor in advancing peaceful coexistence, infrastructural development, and political stability in Plateau State.

Also speaking, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, Islamic scholar and National Chairman of the Council of Ulama Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah; Prof. Khalid Aliyu Abubakar, Imam at the National Mosque and National Secretary of JNI; as well as former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Member representing Wase Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, applauded Governor Mutfwang for creating the opportunity for interaction.

They expressed appreciation for the ongoing developments in the state and pledged their support to the government in its quest for sustainable growth and development.
