CP ADESINA WINNING WAR AGAINST KIDNAPPING IN PLATEAU, PARADES 12 NOTORIOUS CRIMINALS

The supportive role of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has resulted in major breakthrough in the fight against crime and criminality in Plateau State.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina who reeled out the successes recorded by the Plateau State Police Command during a press briefing today at the force headquarters in Jos, sated that the command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime and criminality in the State.
Addressing Journalists in a press conference for the month of September 2025 under review, CP Emmanuel Adesina stated “In the course of executing our constitutional mandate which includes the detection and prevention of crime, protection of lives and property, apprehension of offenders among others, the Command has arrested some suspects who took part in various crimes within the period under review (September 2025) adding, “We have also recovered firearms from the suspects and also rescued some kidnap victims; hence I called you this afternoon to brief you on this development”.
The dogged crime fighter in the State, CP Adesina who has consistently informed the public on his Command’s operations further states “As part of our efforts to rid Plateau State of kidnapping activities, the Command has arrested a member of a kidnap syndicate around Mazah community in Jos North Local Government Area. The suspect one Auwal Mohammed, 20 years old of Tilde Fulani Toro LGA of Bauchi State was arrested on 03/08/2025 at about 12:30pm by our detectives from the Command’s Anti Kidnapping Unit (AKU)”.
One of the kidnappers who met his waterloo was aprehended while buying food supplies for his gang members and was arrested following a credible intelligence “Upon conducting an on-the-spot search on him, the following items were found in his possession; one Cutlass, loaves of Bread, packets of Cigarette, sachets of powdered Chekers Custard, one Torchlight, sachets of Glucose, , sachets of Top Tea, and one Tecno Camon Phone which he said, belonged to one of the victims” CP Adesina revealed.
According to the CP, “During our interview, the suspect confessed that he is a member of a kidnap syndicate that operates around the borders of Plateau and Bauchi States; he also revealed that he was out on a mission to get more supplies for his fellow gang members, while they await response from their victim’s family. The suspect is currently in our custody, as efforts are on top gear to arrest his cohorts and charge them to Court for onward prosecution”.
Similarly, detectives attached to Jengre Division arrested three (3) suspects around Mista-Ali, Bassa LGA on 16/09/2025 while acting upon credible intelligence received from members of the community.
The suspects; one Sunusi Abdullahi 22 years old of Bilabili Gwandak, Suleiman Saidu 30 years old of Jijin Filli, Abbas Yusuf 26 years of Mista Ali, confessed during Police interview that they belong to a kidnapping syndicate that terrorizes innocent citizens between Misa-Ali and Tsaya village. The suspects are currently under investigation at the Command’s Anti Kidnapping Unit.
As part of the Plateau State Police Command’s success story, a kidnapped victim was rescued and firearms recovered. ‘In another development, we received a report on 17/09/2025 at about 06:30pm that one Ebuka, male of Jos had been kidnapped by unknown armed men and taken to unknown destination, upon receipt of the report, I immediately directed the DPO Bukuru Division, to mobilize and lead a team of Policemen to the scene, while other DPOs, Tactical and Patrol Teams within the Metropolis also joined in the search operation for a possible hideout of the suspects and rescue the victim.”
CP Adesina further reveals “As a result of this swift and synergetic operation, a Sienna vehicle with registration number ABJ113 CR was intercepted at Old Airport Roundabout Jos. Upon conducting a search on the vehicle and its occupants, the said victim was seen in the car. The following suspects were arrested; one Joshua Ponzing Nathaniel 25 years old, Zairuma Sani 23 years old, Abas Sani 24 years old, and Nanfa Goni 23 years old. One locally fabricated pistol was also recovered from the suspects. Our investigation is still ongoing”.
CP Adesina while appreciating the supportive role of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun in helping his Command to achieve auccess, he stated ” it is common knowledge that this time of the year, also known as “Ember Months” is characterized by a rising wave of crime perpetrated by unscrupulous elements whose intention is to cause chaos within the State, thereby robbing innocent citizens of their belongings. As part of our proactive measures in ensuring that Plateau State is safe all year round and especially as the year comes to an end, I have directed all DPOs and Heads of other Tactical/Patrol Teams throughout the State to embark on “Ember Month Surveillance” operations within their various areas of responsibilities to ensure that all Plateau citizens and visitors are safe during this period”.
